Homeward Bound is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work at our Thunderbird Village location at 2302 W. Colter Street in Phoenix. (This is near the intersection of Camelback Rd. and Interstate 17.)
Homeward Bound is a nonprofit based in Arizona that serves the needs of families going through homelessness. We serve over 130 homeless families every year, providing them with not just housing but an in-depth program that helps them get back on their own two feet. Summary of Job Activities
Performance of repairs and maintenance of Thunderbird Family Village (TFV) buildings and scattered sites in accordance with the purposes of the agency, policies set by the Board, applicable laws, requirements of funding contracts, and established standards.
Perform plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting and other repairs as needed on TFV transitional housing and scattered sites.
Complete maintenance work orders according to Homeward Bound procedures
Accountable for keys assigned for TFV housing and scattered sites
Maintain TFV “curb appeal”; remove all debris from grounds, empty trash daily
Driving Homeward Bound vehicles
Perform all physical duties using appropriate safety equipment and techniques
Attend all-staff meetings as directed
Understand the OSHA “Right to Know” programs; use hazardous materials properly, maintain proper documentation of MSDS for all products used; attend training for maintenance related items.
Walk perimeter of property several times during shift. Makes deliveries of equipment/furniture as needed.
Participate in agency-related projects not directly associated with the maintenance of properties.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Ability to read and understand written instructions and to write clear and professional reports
Safe driving skills and satisfactory driving record
Ability to be bonded
Ability to work with diverse populations (Board, staff, volunteers, clients)
Must have own tools for use at work
Employee will work in and out of doors to accomplish duties. Must have manual dexterity and agility to climb ladders while carrying equipment, work at heights, in confined spaces, and in contorted positions; employee may be called upon to move equipment weighing several hundred pounds and to lift components which may exceed 75 pounds in weight.
Must have satisfactory outcome to criminal background check, CPS background check, education, employment background check, and pre-employment drug screen
Have or be able to receive/maintain a Class 1 fingerprint card
Education, Training, and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of directly related construction, property repair and maintenance with a high level of responsibility with scheduled and emergency maintenance
Experienced with minor plumbing, minor electrical repairs, drywall repairs, painting, carpentry and other repairs
Ability to write clear, concise, and organized reports
Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and clean driving record
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Experience driving small trucks
Scheduled for 40 hours per week – schedule to be set by supervisor; overtime must be pre-approved
Construction/home repair environment
May work in hot storage facility
Works outdoors in extreme summer heat and winter cold
General maintenance, repair, and moving tools/equipment
Personal safety equipment including, but not limited to, steel-toed boots, back-support belts, and safety goggles
Agency provided vehicles
Judgment and maturity required in safe handling of maintenance and repair equipment, cleaning products, and company owned equipment and vehicles
Discretion with confidential and personal matters involving client homes
Able to accept direction and constructive criticism then complete tasks
Excellent attitude while working in adverse conditions
Able to work independently or as a member of a team project
Understanding the agency mission and operation
