The Staff Internal Auditor reports to the Internal Audit Manager and under general supervision, performs professional internal audit work that involves conducting operational, financial and compliance audits as assigned to help maintain integrity and compliance. Maintains all organizational and professional ethical standards and adheres to accounting principles and audit guidelines. Receives supervision and training to develop skills and knowledge in the application of internal auditing concepts and industry standards with increasing independence in the performance of assignments as proficiency is gained.

Duties and Responsibilities
With limited supervision, executes internal control testing for low to medium risk areas in support of the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program.
Uses independent judgement and critical thinking in the execution of assigned reviews and audits, while working within standard processes and practices.
Performs property site audits including preparing property data, performing preliminary compliance testing and analysis in coordination with audit team, and working with property management and associates to assess site compliance.
Documents compliance test results and identifies audit issues in accordance with work paper guidelines.
Communicates test findings and recommendations via written reports and verbal communication to Internal Audit team and field personnel as deemed appropriate.
Fulfills audit requests from external auditors as directed.
Pursues professional development opportunities to remain current with internal audit practices, tools, and regulation as well as to further knowledge and/or accreditation.
Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Bachelor s degree in accounting or finance required
Two (2) years of professional audit experience required for Bachelor s degree in non-accounting or non-finance fields
Master's degree in a related field preferred
CPA, CIA, or CISA certification/license preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of internal auditing, accounting principles and practices, and management principles
Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley 404 terminology, concepts, and practices
Skill in collecting and analyzing semi-complex data and drawing logical conclusions
Skill and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing, including active listening skills
Skill at establishing and maintaining productive working relationships, and working effectively in a professional team environment
Skill in negotiating issues and resolving problems with supervision as needed
Skill at working independently or as part of a team, and meeting deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Ability to travel 10%-15%
