The Employee Relations Specialist works under thedirectionof the Employee Relations Director tocoordinateand manage the employee relationsand inclusive diversityprograms and functions. Primary responsibilities include managing employee relations, inclusive diversity and engagement data and providing a broad range of support services to ensure systems, processes, programs and policies are aligned and optimized to achieve our goals. In addition, the Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of a wide variety of HR related programs, functions and activities.

Provides consultation, coaching and guidance to people managers on performance management and progressive discipline processes. Prepares and/or reviews performance documentation, provides input and recommendations, and coaches to provide effective performance feedback.
Conduct investigations as needed in partnership with Employee Relations Managers and Director.
Analyzes human resources data such as new hire survey responses, exit interview information, unemployment claims data and turnover statistics. Recommends and facilitates actions in response as necessary.
Provides support and contributes to MAA's inclusive diversity strategy and manages delegated deliverables.
Manage MAA's unemployment claim process, including submitting responses and coordinating unemployment hearings.
Administers MAA's drug-free workplace policy and drug testing program, including record keeping and provider relations.
Coordinates the Labor and Employment Poster request process for new and existing sites.
Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of combination of education and experience.
2-3 years of employee relations and/or Human Resources experience required.
Bilingual or full professional proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred
Professional certification in human resources (e.g., SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge HR/employment compliance policies and practices
Knowledge of all employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, OSHA, FMLA, FLSA)
Knowledge of legal requirements related to HR regulatory compliance at the federal, state and local levels
Skill and ability to assertively address, coach, manage and resolve interpersonal conflict effectively and efficiently
Consultative and customer service orientation
Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and projects, and meet deadlines
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain appropriate discretion
