We have a great opportunity for a talented Director, Human Resources with an extensive background in Employee Relations. This role manages and assists in developing HR programs to ensure effective employee relations in legal compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. Engages in a value-added, consultative relationship with AMLI leadership and supervisory staff for problem-solving, proactive communication, and change management.
Provides Employee Relations for client groups while ensuring compliance with the local, state, and federal laws, with expertise in CA state requirements. Resolves issues with managers and employees, providing counseling to employees, and coaching management to ensure skilled transfer on handling employee issues. Maintains current knowledge of and trains on all federal, state, and local employment laws.
Conducts and resolves workplace investigations (wage and hour/harassment/discrimination, etc.) as needed. Partners with company leaders and legal counsel to minimize legal risks and manage EEOC FLSA or other legal claims.
Provides leadership and direction for HR direct reports, including effective employee relations, compliance with employment law, ongoing training, and motivation for staff and ensures regular coaching and career development for all staff members.
Champion and assist with Diversity Equity & Inclusion efforts and strategy
Oversees timely and accurate enhancement, development, and maintenance of various HR functions:
HRIS, changes, and salary administration within company controls.
Analysis and recommendations of HR reports for critical analysis of the HR function and AMLI people resources
Unemployment Insurance Claims
Assists Sr. VP in developing and implementing human resources strategy and related business continuity issues.
Leads talent acquisition/recruitment strategy and programs.
Provides Supervisory and Leadership training to all levels of management in various areas of human resources such as Employment Law, Harassment Awareness, Coaching and Counseling, Union Prevention/Positive Employee Relations, Talent Management, and Talent Acquisition
Acts as backup for SVP of HR and supports/manages miscellaneous projects as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BA or BS degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field
7 years in Human Resources or a combination of education and Human Resource Management, Business, or Organizational Development
Strong working knowledge of disciplines within H.R. (e.g., Talent Management and Acquisition, employee and labor relations, DEI, training delivery).
Strong working knowledge of State, Federal and Labor Employment Law; CA Employment Law; pre-employment assessment tools, and Human Resources technology. Immigration law and VISA experience is a plus.
Fluency in Spanish helpful
S/PHR and or SHRM-S/CP certification preferred. CA certification also a plus.
Experience in project management and proven track record of successfully leading HR initiatives
Travel: 10-15% required.
