ResponsibilitiesAs Payroll Director you will lead, manage and ensure compliance for all aspects of the company's payroll functions for approximately 4000 associates nationwide. You will work closely with senior leadership to create and enhance department strategies and objectives, while advising on and ensuring payroll policies and best practices. You will be responsible for supervising a team of Payroll Coordinators who serve as a support to various internal associates, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. We are seeking a Payroll Director who is positive, professional and collaborative in their approach. This opportunity is located in our corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Directs and oversees the preparation and processing of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for 4000+ employees through the Dayforce (Ceridian) payroll system.
* Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
* Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates input by supervisors and Payroll Coordinators, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
* Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
* Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
* Direct and oversee the various reporting/filing/payment of payroll related taxes and garnishments as required by federal and state law.
* Audits payroll reports for accuracy and compliance.
* Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
* Responsible for routine and ad hoc data extracts and analysis related to payroll and benefits.
* Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
* Works with payroll vendor and project team on RFP for implementation of new payroll software, including roll out and training.
* Performs other payroll duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Interviews, hires, and trains new departmental staff.
* Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
* Leads by example and provides consistent coaching and development.
* Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance or similar field required
* At least 10 years of payroll experience required
* Experience in planning, organizing and leading teams and projects and developing team members
* Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
* Experience with multi-state payroll, well-versed in state and federal wage and hour requirements.
* Prior experience with payroll software implementation.
* Must have prior experience with Ceridian payroll software, Dayforce.
* Ability to thrive in an ever-changing, fast paced environment.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and business skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google or related software.
* Extremely knowledgeable with state/federal wage and hour laws, specific to overtime, on-call, etc.
* Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
* Demonstrates the highest level of professional and ethical conduct, maintains confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
* Prolonged periods of working behind a desk (sitting and standing) and working on a computer.
* Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
