Continental Properties is looking for a Director of Tax Planning & Strategy to join out team. You will be our expert in Federal and State tax laws and advise senior management on the possible effects of asset management decisions, while implementing thoughtful strategies to minimize business and income taxes. You will provide a tax perspective to the formation and execution of our strategic plan, and inform senior management on changes in the tax laws. In partnership with the Director of Tax Compliance you will lead the tax team and its Tax Managers, and report directly to our EVP & CFO.

Support tax planning and develop organizational tax strategies to support our growing private equity firm
Assess the impact of proposed and new legislation for all partners
Implement and maintain asset capitalization policy for Continental and its entities to maximize tax advantage for Continental and its investors
Review taxable income analysis, investor allocations, and tax forms prepared by third-party tax firm to ensure that accurate partnership tax documents are delivered
Help review owners' tax returns and coordinate with third-party tax firm to answer owners' individual tax profile questions
Maintain knowledge regarding our state apportionment and preparation of state tax estimates
Advise finance and accounting departments on the recommended withholding of partner distributions to ensure that funds are available when taxes are filed
Review investor projections and compliance work, including coordination with Investor Relationships department and direct contact with outside investors
Collaborate with Investor Relations on preparations of materials for investment and development funds
Help create financial models that address investor questions related to the tax implications associated with investing in real estate funds
Support the completion and review of quarterly financial statements
Skills for Success:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Masters in Taxation, Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
8-10+ years' experience in partnership tax preparation with demonstrated experience in real estate
Must be proficient with Form 1065 and Form Schedule K-1 filings
Experience with Form 1120S, Form 1040, and like-kind exchanges would be appreciated, but not required
Knowledge of the tax laws related to S-Corporations and partnerships engaged in real estate development
