Job Description
This is a role that requires a self-starter. The incumbent will report to the Senior Financial Controller based in London and will manage three people in Belgium. You will also be required to assist the EMEA Finance Operations Controller from time to time, for ad hoc requests. You will support by means of the creation of various reports and analyses. Additionally, you will be responsible for the proper reporting of our financial figures in the financial statements of several Belgium and Luxembourg entities.
From your position standing you're in the heart of the Finance organization and work you together with among other the Finance Shared Service Centre (FSC) in India. As a Financial Controller you are responsible for, among other things, the financial reporting of multiple entities in accordance with global and local guidelines, processes and legislation and regulations. In addition, you also assist the internal and external audits, and you guarantee the reporting requirements.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
You possess knowledge of figures, and you monitor, optimize, and coordinate the month-end closing process
The ability to improve efficient and reliable reporting, good financial processes, good risk management, the appropriate controls and
Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the FSC on a periodic basis
Oversee Accounts Receivable and Payable, and Bank reconciliations
The development of financial analysis of the monthly figures and the determination of the completeness and reliability of these figures
Cash flow forecast draw for the BELUX entities
Experience with maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors and consultants
The role will require you to collaborate with other departments such as Legal, HR, Company Secretarial and the business
You will be one of the main points for external auditors throughout the audit cycle
Preparation of annual financial statements for four Belgium entities
Oversee and work with external fiduciaries for the preparation of the Luxembourg financial statements for 3 entities
Taking responsibility of key elements of the month, quarter and year-end closing, and the profit and loss accounts and balance sheet
Deal with various stakeholders within Finance and the Business, in the region as well as the UK and USA
Oversee the posting of monthly payrolls
Oversee of the sales tax return (VAT)
With whom will you work
You come to work at the department Finance. The team in the BELUX consists of 5 professionals, consisting of the Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Assistant Accountant, and a Finance Support Officer. The Northern Europe Controllership team consists of 4 controllers and EMEA NE Controller. In addition to performing the regular tasks is the focus on further design and development of the finance department in BELUX and Northern Europe. The Finance department falls within the EMEA structure, giving you regular contact with your colleagues from our EMEA headquarters in London, other countries within the region and with our Shared Service Centre in India.
Key Requirements
A professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA; or equivalent for Belgium or Luxembourg
At least three years of relevant experience working in a similar role
Excellent Excel skills are a must (pivots, sumif(s), vlookup, hlookup, xlookup, etc)
Knowledge of IFRS reporting US/Belgium/Luxembourg GAAP as well
Knowledge of local requirements of payroll and local taxes
Experience of HFM and Workday preferred but not essential
The following competences but not limited to: Analytical, good communicators to all levels of management and external stakeholders, flexible, team player and able to deal with an evolving and changing environment
Fluency in Dutch, English and French both written and spoken
