JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the electrical infrastructure of the assigned client sites and facilities. Installs, inspects, modifies, maintains and repairs the electrical infrastructure of the buildings and equipment, including electrical piping and wiring, transformers and distribution panels, lighting, power outlets, motor centers, voice/data communications, and emergency power systems. Installs conduit and wiring of equipment. Works with other facilities technicians, electricians, contractors and building engineers to complete tasks and projects in a safe and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. This position description may be modified to time to meet the needs of the client.
- Provide expertise in maintaining the critical environment, including datacenter power distribution, emergency power systems, and high and low-voltage panel board networking systems.
- Analyze electrical needs on projects and assist with design
- Conduct building tours and report deficiencies for corrective action.
- Work with engineers, contractors and consultants in evaluating the proper operation of the facility systems.
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and other equipment necessary to perform the job. Maintain hand and power tools in working order.
- Carry out preventive maintenance program on electrical and facility equipment.
- Layout and installation of power circuits including required electrical calculations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain automatic controls, switchboards, lighting circuits and building power.
- Troubleshoot, tear down, disassemble, rewire, adjust, repair and replace electrical apparatus.
- Respond to all types of electrical and other facilities emergencies.
- Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition. Comply with OSHA, client, and C&W Services safety policies and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, assisting other tradesmen, and emergency repairs.
- Completes work in accordance with C&W Services procedures and work instructions.
- Assists the department with creating and maintaining operational procedures for site specific equipment and systems.
- Able to contribute positively in a team environment with other trades.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to communicate well and maintain a positive long-term relationship with the client and site personnel.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Able to drive company vehicle and work at remote sites.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):
- Minimum of three yearsâ™ experience performing maintenance (repairs and periodic/ preventive/ predictive maintenance) as a facilities electrician in industrial or commercial settings. Experience in electrical construction projects is a plus.
- Experience performing and overseeing electrical maintenance in critical environments (ie. datacenters with emergency power systems)
- City of Rochester MASTER Electrical License holder
- Experience with computer usage including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Able to communicate efficiently and professionally by email and other written forms.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Possess NYS driverâ™s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to use and work from ladders, staging, scaffolds, and elevated platforms.
- Able to bend, reach, stoop, and hold awkward positions for prolonged periods.
- Able to work on hands and knees, in confined spaces, and other uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Observant which requires seeing, hearing, and smelling
- Routinely walks to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment, and other essentials to the job site.
