Job Description Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for handling and performing a variety of non-technical maintenance, painting, carpentry, custodial,, general repairs, and other handyperson tasks at the facility. This role is expected to supervise, lead, and train other non-technical, non-licensed staff including Maintenance Helpers in the completion of a variety of building/facility maintenance and repair tasks.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Perform general repairs and other tasks as assigned
- Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests as assigned
- Ability to use technology such as; smart phones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, building automation systems, etc
- Complete all required C&W Safety Training as scheduled annually
- Comply with C&W Uniform Dress Code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hours
- May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or stand-by on-call duties
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions
- Coordinates with other technicians in the repair and service of building and central plant equipment
- In coordination with Facilities Manager and the other skilled trades at the facility, is responsible for daily property inspections, prioritizing work orders, handling urgent requests, responding to clientâ™s work order request for maintenance and facility/equipment repairs, assist with the moving of critical equipment throughout the premises and ensuring the completion of any and all assigned preventative maintenance work and procedures, ensure the cleanliness of the premises via inspection and light supervision
- This role is expected to supervise, lead, and train other non-technical, non-licensed staff including maintenance helpers in the completion of a variety of building/facility maintenance and repair tasks
- Helps to ensure all building and maintenance policies, procedures, SOPâ™s, codes, regulations, etc. are followed and enforced
- May be required to respond to restroom service requests
- May be required to pick up supplies from area supplier when requested
- Works closely with other teams on site, including MAC, Space Planning, Events, Security, Food Service, Janitorial, Engineering, and AV
- Reviews work orders and ensures they get completed in a timely manner
- Utilizes several trade skills such as light carpentry and painting
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to read policy manuals, safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
IMPORTANT EDUCATION
- High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school
IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE
- Related experience
- EPA 608 â“ Minimum Type II, or CPO, or local city required certificate
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions. The employee may also be regularly required to remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for 85% of the time; regularly use hands to operate office machinery and regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee must demonstrate the ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
